Review: Nokia’s Do-It-All N80
What a spec sheet the Nokia N80 has: a 3MP camera, WiFi/VOIP, 3G/EDGE, and a fantastic music player and web browser. It ain’t half bad looking, either. But as is often the case, this otherwise fantastic handset has an achilles heel.

Samsung’s Tristar X828 6.9-mm thin champ

Samsung’s Tristar X828 6.9-mm thin champ
Filed under: Cellphones Hey check-it fella, there’s a new slimster phone on the block kickin’ about by the name of X828, dig? At 6.9-milimeters (mostly, note that top-end bulge), this new unannounced Samsung shaves a full millimeter off KTF’s previous skinny champ, the EV-K100, which held the record for oh, about two weeks over that 8.8-mm VK 2000 fatty. Now, with those dimensions you’d expect it to skimp on the specs, right? Au contraire mon frere, the X828 still eeks-out a 1.9-inch 262k color screen, Bluetooth, MP3 player and 3D virtual surround capable speakers, 80MB of on-board memory, and a 2 megapixel shooter. At this rate of slimaturization, we expect to see a cellphone film we can slather across our palms by next year’s CES. Click-on for more pics after the break.[Via TechTickerBlog, thanks Anish]Read | Permalink | Email this | Linking Blogs | Comments

Motorola’s RAZR 2 / Canary pics!
Filed under: Cellphones Remember The Boy Genius, the dude who scored those CDMA Q shots way back in the year 2005? He’s back, and hooked us up with some shots of Motorola’s Canary, what we understand to be the true successor to the RAZR. Contrary to prior reports that this thing would run Windows Mobile, you can plainly see that it doesn’t; we understand it uses the same software build as the RAZR V3x, which might imply it’s a UMTS device as well. A second trustworthy source let us know that the device would pack a 2 megapixel camera, and would be positioned as Moto’s new flagship phone due for Q4 2006 or Q1 2007 launch, which jibes with everything else we’ve been hearing, and starts to pull this picture together. More pics after the break!P.S. It’s worth noting, as we’re told, that this phone is more or less just as thin as the original RAZR, just not as wide. And that’s supposedly not a plastic exterior, but a soft-touch finish and aluminum detailing. Permalink | Email this | Linking Blogs | Comments

Nokia 7380
The Nokia 7380 would not make for a very useful primary phone, but it’s satisfactory as a fashion accessory or as a secondary mobile. Even though we appreciate the impressive multimedia upgrades over its predecessor, it’s a shame that the phone’s screen and memory size does not make full use of them.
